What this is

I saw Reuben Wu's drone light-painting work and thought it was cool, and wondered if I can copy and maybe extend it a bit. Thus, this project was born.

Why I needed it

I thought it would look cool if, instead of taking photos with my drone, I could take photos of my drone automatically drawing shapes in the night sky.

How I made it

I have two drones, one is an open-source racing quadcopter and one is a closed-source photography drone. Since I wanted programmability, I figured I'd use the open source drone, but first I needed to install GPS on it. The rest of the story is in the build log.
